The Alienist	Book	A male survivor of a childhood rape becomes a serial killer, and writes letters to the press and the families of his preteen all male prostitute victims announcing he did not rape them because it would be "filthy".
American Psycho	Book/Movie	Very graphic. Very triggering.
Antigone	Play	Incest and lots of suicide. Sequel to Oedipus at Colonus.
Are You in the House Alone	Book	It's about a girl being stalked then raped by the son who is part of the wealthiest most respected family in town. And the injustice of it.
Backroads	Book	My humanities class read this, but just reading the summary was triggering.deals with incest, the son ends up in a disturbing relationship with his little sister's friend's mom. The kids were both physically and sexually abused.
Bastard Out Of Carolina	Book/Movie	Throughout the movie there is child abuse but there is a very very disturbing scene where a little girl gets raped by her step-father. I have never been sexually assaulted but this movie made me walk out of the room.
Beloved	Book	Woman is assaulted (two men hold her down and drink her breast milk).
Beulah Land	Book/Movie	multiple rape scenes. slaves raping women and soldiers raping women. awesome book, just triggering.
Black and Blue	Book	Woman is raped by her husband. It is a wonderful book but was highly triggering.
Black Elk Speaks	Book	Lakota holy man Black Elk describes the practice of kidnapping girls who didn't consent, or their parents didn't consent, to a marriage proposal. It's hinted that something must happen to the girl to "make it" so that her parents cannot object to the union. Spiritually enlightning book, just be careful while reading.
Blue Velvet	Book	Rape.
The Bluest Eye	Book	This book has two parts when the father Cholly rapes his 12 daughter Pecola. There are also several parts of graphic sex. Pecola goes insane after losing her father's baby ...i found this book very disturbing. i dont recommend this to any survivor.
The Book of the Mad (Part 4 of the Paradys series, by Tanith Lee)	Book	This is the only one I read of the Paradys tetralogy, but in it is the brutal rape of a "woman-child" named Hilde. This rape being after her endless soliliquy on how she loved and lusted for him. After the rape, she goes completely insane. Unfortunately I quit reading in there, so I don't know if she recovers. I doubt it though, the way the book was headed.
Brave New Girl	Book	Has a scene of rape with a man in his 20's and a 14 year old girl. Could be triggering.
Brave New World	Book	Lots of references to sex, people having sex freely with whoever they want ect. One chapter implies about a women being raped and screaming, and her son being locked in a closet. Parts of it were triggering to me. Other's just made me sick.
Broken Child	Book	Very graphic account of mother/daughter physical and sexual abuse.

A Child Called It	Book	Well written book...describes with horrible details one story of child abuse made me cry for hours.

Dead Sleep	Book	A journalist is struggling with a gang rape in her past. This is a small part of the book, but powerful. Excellent book.
Death and the Maiden	Play/Movie	A political prisoner who was tortured and raped suspects that the man who's car broke down outside her house is her main abuser, so she captures and tortures him. A classical piece, called Death and the Maiden, triggers her because it was playing when she was raped.
Death of Innocence	Book	True story of two twelve year old girls who are raped and tortured, with one of them dying as a result.
Deerskin, by Robin McKinley	Book	Young woman is raped by her father (the king) and flees when her memories cause her mind to shatter -- very powerful, she wins out in the end, but hard, hard, hard to read. Triggered me half to death.
Diamonds are Forever	Book	By Ian Fleming. A James Bond book. There's a reference to the gang rape of the main female character, which caused her to become reclusive and hate men. She now helps a diamond smuggling gang to make ends meet. James Bond, for once, becomes sympathetic and tries to help the girl heal. She almost gets raped again, but Bond rescues her and kills her attackers.
Different Seasons	Book	The book contains four novellas: Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption mentions prison rape, Apt Pupil has a dream rape scene, and rape is mentioned in The Body.
The Disappearence Of Lindsay Barrat	Book	Graphic gang rape scene and murders. Good book, but can be triggering.
Disgrace	Book	Rape. It's not graphic but the way in which the woman handles it is triggering.
Dr. No	Book/Movie	By Ian Fleming. Yes, it's a James Bond book. Both the book and the movie refer to an event in the main female character's life when she was raped by a villager, and got revenge by killing her rapist. The movie later implies that she was raped again by the film's villain (But it's unclear whether or not she actually was). Both the book and the movie are pretty boring, so save yourself the rental.
Eden Close	Book	Adoptive father-daughter incest. Insinuates that maybe daughter was somewhat consenting!
El Mar	Book/Movie	A Spanish movie, I don't even know if it's released elsewhere. Very disturbing, includes violence, several murders at the beginning, obsession, repression, religion...somehow i knew from the beginning that i had to expect rape there. Very graphic deaths. At the end there's a young man breaking free from his abuser by murdering him...then raping a boy who secretly adores him. Again murder...and suicide. Very triggering, i seldom had so many tears coming out in a movie, but still very good, very emotional...only see if you feel strong enough.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas	Book/Movie	Main charater talks to friend about raping a young girl, although it is only said so that his friend will get rid of the girl (she is not raped) the conversation still made me sick
The Fifth Sacred Thing	Book	Although this is an otherwise excellent book, there are a number of rape scenes involving a young girl and military men. A man is also raped. Rape itself is mentioned often in the book. It has a wonderful story, but please be careful when reading this one.

Flowers in the Attic	Book/Movie	Incest between a brother and sister. Discusses incestuous relationship that follows the first sexual encounter. Made me sick to my stomach. Be careful.

Girl Interrupted	Book/Movie	A girl commits suicide when she is confronted about father raping her and her liking it. It plays a very small roll in the movie and it is otherwise EXCELLENT, but if you have fresh wounds like I do, it's enough to make you throw up and cry.
Go Ask Alice	Book	Alice and her best friend,Chris, are taking drugs. While they're high, their drug dealers rape them.
The God of Small Things	Book	There is a scene where a little boy, one of the main characters, is molested in movie theatre. It was very well written, showing the confusion and fear of children during abuse, but also VERY triggering.
Good Hearts	Book	An excellent book but it is mainly about one woman's rape and the aftereffects
The Green Mile	Book/Movie	Movie which contains the story told about the conviction of a man for the rape and murder of two small 7 year old sisters in the South. The man was faulsey commited but shared the same prison area with the man whom really commited this sexual crime only he was there for other reasons. Can be very triggering!
Hearts in Atlantis	Book	Flash-back rape scene of main character's mother -- not very graphic, but bad enough. Good book, though.
The Hotel New Hampshire	Book/Movie	For the moment I only know the film... Includes a gang rape scene, brother-sister-incest, a young girl wearing a bear costume after her rape and a revenge scene. Sometimes quite graphic, but (at least to me) not really triggering...worth seeing it if you can.
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings	Book/Autobiography	Main character is sexually assaulted and then raped at age eight by her mother's boyfriend. She is later extensively questioned in trial and accused of lying.
Jasmine	Book	The story of a woman from India who comes and lives in the US. She is raped by a man who is supposed to be helping her get into the country.
Keely and Du	Play	A woman is raped by her husband and gets pregnant. An anti-abortion underground militia organization kidnaps her and is going to force her to have the baby. They even try to force her to get back with her rapist ex-husband. Very very very very triggering.
The Key to Midnight	Book	Features multiple rape recalled under hypnosis, also "consentual" rape and physical abuse. Disturbing.
Kiss the Girls	Book/Movie	Very graphic depictions of rape. Very very triggering. I do not recommend this, especially the book, to any survivor.
The Kitchen God's Wife	Book	Lots of marital rape.
The Library Policeman	Short Story	In the volume "Four Past Midnight" by Stephen King. Very graphic depiction of child rape. Male survivors and child abuse suvivors - DO NOT READ IT.
Lovely Bones	Book	This novel is the story of a young girls kidnapping, rape and murder, told from the persepective of the dead victim. Written by a rape survivor it has received praise for its handling of the subject.
Lucky	Book	A book, by Alice Sebold, about her rape.
Magnolia	Book	Just incest subject matter but I found this movie very healing.
Malice	Book	A book about a 17 year old girl who has been raped by her father, for 5 years. She kills him and is sent to prison for 2 years. There, she is gang raped. After her sentence, she works at a model agency. Her male boss hits on her, but she quits job. She is raped by a 21 photogropher, while he takes pictures. 15 years later, he releases those pictures. She almost kills him. He is sent to prison. She gets married, has 3 kids, and a dog. Healing, but triggering at times.

Oedipus At Colonus	Play	Sequel to Oedipus. Mention of incest, self-injury, and suicide.
Our Guys: The Glen Ridge Rape and the Secret Life of the Perfect Suburb	Book	This book is about a young, retarded girl who is raped by a group of boys in her quiet community. The boys are althlete heros so no one believes her. Very... well, hard to stomatch.

Piers Anthoney: Virtual Mode, Fractal Mode, Chaos Mode, Doon Mode	Book Series	All books discuss gang rape of a 14 year girl and how she handles it and a future relationship. Suicidal tendancies, depression, self-injury are a prominent part of story. Gets rather graphic in places.
Pillars of the Earth	Book	Heroine of the novel gets raped. Her rapist messes up her life a lot afterwards. but she always come back, the novel shows that she is mentally stronger than her rapist. i thought it was a pretty good book.
The Pull of the Moon	Book	Has a flashback to when the heroine was in high school and someone made her have oral sex with him.
The Rape of Lucrece	Poem	This poem by William Shakespeare tells of Lucrece, wife of a Roman nobleman. She is sexually assaulted and swears her husband and friends to revenge her honour. She then kills herself. Very Shakespearean, very Elizabethean, very flowery. Still, can be disturbing.
Raven	Book	It has a sexual abuse in it.
Reviving Ophelia	Book	Three or four different rape stories. gang rape, aquaintance rape, child molestation, self mutilation, eating disorders, and the list goes on. while it does trigger, it's also a very helpful book
Romance of the Forest	Book	The plot of the book is about a man who is plotting to rape a woman, and his various attempts to do so. There are also incest themes. It is a 19th century British novel, so you might encounter it in a class.
Rose Madder	Book	This book was very empowering to me but it's about a husband who abuses his wife and she leaves him and he comes after her. Wonderful book but triggering in parts
Sanctuary	Book	Novel by Nora Roberts in which rapist hunts and attacks women on an island.
Sex Crimes	Book	Former sex crimes prosecutor Alice Vachss tells her story. Descriptions of case studies and the resulting trials are quite graphic.
Shadowfires	Book	Depicts rape and murder of a woman by an animalistic creature. Very graphic.
She's Come Undone	Book	A young girl is raped by a neighbor, the book is very good however and deals with her recovery
Speak	Book	A teenage girl is outcasted after she calls the police to a party she was just raped at. Same person attempts to rape her again, but she is "saved" by other girls in the school. Great book for teenagers deal ing with sexual assault by a peer, but important that they are in therapy at the same time as reading it.

A Thousand Acres	Book/Movie	The book/movie surrounds three sisters dealing with incest. Not shown but the whole movie is about this topic.
A Time to Kill	Book/Movie	It is about a 13yr old black girl who was raped by 2 white men, because of what they did she would never be able to have kids. This was a very disturbing film as it shows what animals and lack of justice there is out there.
Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins" Thoughts	Book	A brilliant book of poetry and short thoughts but the book contains poems about child abuse, rape and just feelings of depression. they are real better poems with a message but I found them triggering, worth a read but be strong!
To Kill a Mockingbird	Book/Movie	Rape trial- may be triggering- also touches on father/daughter abuse.
Tully	Book	A really good bookk but it deals some with incest. The victim gets pregnant at 12, then has a late abortion. The theme is throughout the book. Regardless, the book is still excellent, but potentially triggering.
Unfinished Murder: Capture of a Serial Rapist	Book	The story behind the mind of a Serial rapist. Very graphic details.
The War Zone	Book	Deals with incest between a father and daughter including a sex scene.
We Were the Mulvaneys	Book	Most of the book is centered around what happens to a family when a girl is raped.
When I was Puerto Rican	Book	Tells about a girls life from being a very poor and neglected child to a famous writer at a top university. In it there's a few times where it describes in detail some sexual abuse that happens to her. One instance of incest as well. It was very triggering to me. Describes her feelings when the things happend and afterward. Very good book, just really triggering.
When Rabbit Howls	Book/Movie	Very in depth discussion of step-father/step-daughter incest. Very graphic. Excellent book/movie if you can stomach it.
The Wildflowers Mini-series: Cat-Book 4	Book	Tells of a girl's struggle with dealing with her rape by her adoptive father.
The World According to Garp	Book/Movie	Haven't read the book yet, but the whole film deals with abuse/violence matters. As far as I remeber not explicitely shown. Wonderful and healing to me.
